A Crater Shaped by the Heavens

The Starfall Crater in the natural land spans miles, a vast basin with steep, jagged walls descending to a central basin. At its core lies the meteorite, a massive, unearthly sphere radiating immense magical energy. Encircling the meteorite are the Everglowing Embers, fragments of its celestial impact embedded in the earth, glowing with an intense orange-red flame that pulses with wild magic.

Story

In the time before time, when Vravana was only song and stone, the ley lines thrummed beneath the land like a sleeping heartbeat. The forests stretched wild and unclaimed, and the rivers danced without witness. Magic coursed through the world freely, raw and radiant, yet no mind existed to grasp its wonder.

From the night sky it tore, a blazing wound across the firmament, burning in colors no eye had yet seen. The The Starry Expanse recoiled, the constellations dimmed, and Vravana held its breath as the skyflame struck. It pierced a leywell—a vast, shimmering basin where the ley lines pooled like liquid light. The impact carved a crater so deep and wide that the leywater, once still and dreaming, now circled the fallen star like a glowing moat.

At the heart of this crater, amid molten stone and rising steam, the shard still burns, untouched by time. The Everglowing Embers pulse there with celestial fire. From this flame, the world did not burn. It awakened.

The first people

The first people emerged not from womb or soil, but from the Ember’s light itself. Shaped by the raw will of Vravana and the sentient pulse of the Starfall, they rose from the crater’s edge: luminous beings with eyes of flame and breath that shimmered with the ley lines’ hum. They were called the Flameborn.

The Flameborn walked among the altered jungle of the Skyflame, learning the names of the trees and the taste of starlight in the rivers. They spoke not with words, but with magic—woven threads of intention that shimmered in the air. Where they stepped, the land changed. Their fingers carved glyphs into stone, their songs stirred wind and rain. They were the first to name the world, and in naming it, they anchored themselves to it.

Their forms remained ever-shifting, mirroring the wild beauty and deep magic of the crater that birthed them. The Flameborn retained their godlike essence, intimately bound to the ley-infused air and Everglowing Embers. They could shift shape at will, adapting to the world around them—sprouting wings to skim the canopy, gills to explore ley-fed streams, or claws to climb the oldest trees. It was through this mutable form that the first races were born.  The Flameborn, now shaped by choice, need, and the land’s calling.

As they explored the dense jungles, discovering what life had to offer they could not bring themselves to leave the ember’s glow. Within a fifty-mile radius of the crater—what would become known as Emberglow—the magic remained potent and responsive. There, their cities bloomed beneath the dense canopies around the skyflame. Within that circle of flame-touched jungle, they thrived.

Geography and Features

• The Meteorite Core: Often called the Skyflame, is the living heart of Emberglow and the origin of life on Vravana. It is a fragment of otherworldly origin that continuously pulses with pure leyline energy. From it radiates the ambient magic that allows shapeshifting, coalescence, and resonance within Emberglow. Its flames are semi-sentient—responding to intention, emotion, and magical proximity—and it anchors the fluid reality of the region.
• The Everglowing Embers around the core: These glowing fragments, scattered across the crater’s basin, are fused with the land and cannot be removed. Each Ember burns with an eternal flame, pulsing with chaotic energy that fuels the crater’s wild and dangerous magic. The Embers amplify the meteorite’s influence, creating an environment charged with living, reactive energy. Upon impact, some Embers were flung around the world and are sometimes discovered elsewhere.

Wildlife

The crater is a haven for creatures transformed by its magic. Massive serpents, glowing insects, and predatory plants roam the terrain, fiercely defending the crater from intruders. These entities, warped by the magic of the Starfall, exhibit unpredictable behaviors and magical abilities, making the crater as dangerous as it is fascinating.

History and Legacy

The Starfall Crater was created centuries ago when a celestial object hurtled through Vravana’s skies and crashed into Troll Country. The impact reshaped the landscape, scattering the Everglowing Embers that now define the region.

The Everglowing Embers are regarded as some of the most potent magical artifacts in existence, though their proximity to the meteorite renders them untouchable. Myths and stories have grown around the crater, with some claiming the Embers hold the key to unlocking ultimate magical power, while others see them as harbingers of destruction.
