When the Voidscar tore through the ley lines of Vravana, the land bled chaos. Magic faltered. Alliances cracked. Trust, already threadbare among the great guilds, nearly unraveled entirely.

But from the brink of collapse rose a rare accord—an agreement forged not in politics or strategy, but in desperation.

The Debate in Linshire

In the shadow of the Voidscar, the leaders of the three major guilds convened again in Linshire, a town still raw from corruption’s touch. The mood was grim.

Captain Marrowblade of the Order of Shadow paced like a cornered predator, her blades ever within reach. High Paladin Carradyn of the Balance of the Blade stood unmoving, his armor etched with soot and scorn. Archmage Thyron of the Adherence of the Artifact remained the quiet center, his mind calculating possibilities none dared speak aloud.

Carradyn’s booming voice echoed in the hall: “We stand on the brink of collapse. The people cry for justice, the land cries for balance, and still, we bicker like fools! The corruption must be stopped, and it will not care for your chaos or your curiosities.”

Marrowblade rolled her eyes but spoke with conviction: “Balance, order, justice—fine words, but they won’t save you when your wards crumble and your blades rust. This corruption is wild magic, and wild magic cannot be chained. We know how to move in shadows, how to deal with chaos. You need us more than you admit.”

Thyron raised a hand, his voice soft but commanding: “Enough. The corruption is beyond blame or ideology. The rift at the nexus must be sealed, and we cannot seal it alone. The ley lines demand balance—not just of the land, but of us. Each guild must bring their strength to the table, or we will all fall.”

Reluctantly, the guild leaders agreed. But sealing the rift would require more than cooperation—it would require a binding symbol of their unity.

Temporary Measures

The Voidscar, as a tear in reality, acted as a constant source of chaotic magic. Its presence disrupted the ley lines, causing erratic surges and blockages that spread instability across Vravana. Containment was the first step to restoring balance.

The Adherence mapped the ley lines and placed anchor stones at key points along the corrupted flows. These stones, inscribed with powerful stabilization runes, acted like magical dams, redirecting the chaotic energy away from populated areas and gradually reintroducing it into the ley lines in controlled amounts. This allowed the ley lines to begin flowing harmoniously again, stopping the wild surges and patching the fractured connections.

To ensure the Voidscar’s chaotic energy didn’t overwhelm the anchor stones, the Balance placed holy wards around Linshire’s ley line nexus. These wards acted as a buffer, preventing corruption from seeping into the restored flows.

The Order used stolen relics and chaotic siphoning techniques to absorb residual corruption around the Voidscar, reducing the pressure on the ley lines and preventing further contamination.

The Voidscar was contained but not destroyed. The guilds did not have the ability It remains a dangerous anomaly near the crater in Troll Country, sealed within a magical barrier maintained by the anchor stones. Its presence is a constant reminder of Varis Duskcaller’s folly and the dangers of unchecked ambition.

The area immediately surrounding the Voidscar remained too unstable to repair. Instead of trying to force the ley lines back into their original path, the guilds created a magical exclusion zone around the Voidscar.

Pendants of Shared Power

The Voidscar Cataclysm pushed the ley lines of Vravana to the brink of collapse. Chaotic magic seeped from the rift, destabilizing the ley lines and spreading corruption across the land. Temporary measures slowed the destruction but failed to heal the ley lines or contain the Voidscar’s energy. The guild leaders realized they needed a solution of immense and enduring power.

The idea of forging a set of artifacts arose during a tense debate in Linshire. Archmage Thyron of the Adherence of the Artifact proposed crafting powerful pendants using the flame of the Everglowing Ember. These artifacts, designed to stabilize the ley lines and seal the Voidscar, would also serve as a safeguard against future disasters.

However, the sheer power required for such artifacts became a source of bitter contention among the guilds. Each guild wanted the power to pursue their own priorities, and no faction trusted the others with the full measure of such power.

The guild leaders spent days locked in arguments, their tempers fraying as the Voidscar’s corruption grew worse. None of them wanted to trust their enemies with such potent artifacts, yet the threat of mutual destruction loomed ever closer.

Finally, Archmage Thyron presented a compromise:

  • Three Pendants: Instead of a single artifact, they would create three pendants, each one powerful on its own but capable of amplifying its power when combined with the others.
  • Shared Guardianship: Each guild would claim one pendant, ensuring no single faction could dominate the others. The pendants’ combined power could only be unlocked through cooperation, a deliberate safeguard against misuse.

“It is not trust we offer, but balance,” Thyron said. “If you fear each other so greatly, then share the weight of power. Or let the Voidscar consume us all.”

He also pointed out that it took a cataclysmic event to prompt their cooperation in the first place. The pendants could provide protection if such an event should take place again in the future, but the fierce feud between the Balance and the Order would ensure that the power was never used frivolously.

The proposal was not immediately accepted. The Order chafed at the idea of sharing power, while the Balance grumbled at the lack of a clear authority. But as the corruption spread, the leaders realized they had no choice. The world they knew was on the brink of destruction so reluctantly, they agreed to move forward.

The pendants were forged in the flames of an Everglowing Ember. The process drew on the combined magic, artifacts, and sacrifices of the guilds.

The Three Guild Pendants

Eventually, they came to an audacious compromise: three pendants, one for each of the major guilds. Each pendant would embody the guild’s core essence and bind a fragment of leyline power. They would be separate, yet interdependent—able to function alone, but only unlock their full potential when wielded in unison.

  • The Shadow Pendant (Order of Shadow): Crafted from voidsteel and laced with the Ember’s chaotic residue, it bends destructive forces and conceals the bearer from magical detection.
  • The Light Pendant (Balance of the Blade): Forged with a celestial shard and a sacred emberflame, it stabilizes fractured ley flows and grants protection through order.
  • The Arcane Pendant (Adherents of the Artifact): Formed around a resonance orb etched with ancient sigils, it amplifies and harmonizes both chaos and law, restoring balance to the ley network.

Each pendant required sacrifice. Relics were shattered. Power was poured in. Mages fell.

The Rite of Convergence

The pendants alone could not heal the Voidscar. But together, they could channel a ritual that might.

In a final act of trust—or necessity—the three leaders enacted the Rite of Convergence. Marrowblade wielded the Shadow Pendant to draw in and dilute the scar’s chaotic flare. Carradyn channeled the Light Pendant, anchoring the ley flows and shielding the others. Thyron merged the pendants’ harmonics through the Arcane Pendant, reshaping the leyline network and sealing the rift.

It worked. Not flawlessly, not permanently—but enough.

The Voidscar was closed to the eye. The ley lines flowed again. The guilds, scarred and reluctant, retreated with their pendants in hand.

Legacy and Division

For hundreds of years, the pendants remain with their respective guilds. They are watched, studied, guarded—sometimes used, never trusted. Their power is real. Their unity is rare.

But all good things come to an end… so stay tuned to find out what happens next.
