It began with a whisper in the Linwood.
Azamodius—strange, sharp-tongued, and recently escaped from a magical cage—was spotted lurking near Linshire. Most hadn’t known what he was when he was tiny, but now? It was clear: he was a wizard. And he was angry.
He told the Portalbound that Arguston Moonlash had betrayed him. That the rogue Clawkin captain had stolen a powerful artifact called the Hourglass of Oblivion, and worse, had used it—alongside the Order pendant—to tear a hole in time itself, dragging his ship, the Shadowlance, through the Portal and into Linshire.
Azamodius didn’t hold back. Gruff, urgent, and surprisingly informative, he pleaded with the Portalbound to help. Not just for revenge, but to stop the artifact’s power from destroying the Portal altogether. Though some were wary of his true motives, his deep knowledge of Linshire’s magical systems made him hard to ignore.
Meanwhile, a different figure arrived in town—Empress Aeloria Stormbourne of the Stormwatch Isles. Calm, regal, and diplomatic, she came seeking a stolen treasure of her own: the Orb of Tides, a glowing moon-like sphere said to control weather and waves. She believed Arguston had taken it in a raid.
Unlike Azamodius, Aeloria didn’t demand aid. She offered gifts—beautiful wares from her homeland, tokens of peace, and respect for Linshire’s Mayor. The Portalbound rallied to her cause.
Their efforts paid off. While investigating a smuggling operation linked to Arguston, the Portalbound discovered the Orb of Tides hidden in one of the stolen crates. It was returned to Aeloria before greater harm could be done.
But the web of betrayal didn’t stop there.
Linshire’s own Mayor discovered that something dear to her had gone missing—and the culprit? Arguston, again.
Sheriff Jerald Jones tried to bring Arguston to justice, but the captain fought back. With the help of his loyal followers, Torrik and Clarice, Arguston fled town, leaving behind only chaos—and his ship.
The Shadowlance, once his pride, had been taken over by Tango. The town demanded he turn over any stolen artifacts. But when he searched the ship, only one box remained.
Inside it? Just a note.
A letter from Arguston. Mocking. Taunting. And full of hidden clues.
With sharp eyes and quicker minds, the Portalbound deciphered the letter’s riddles, tracing them from the ship to the Wobbly Goblin Inn, back to the Wizard’s old cage, and finally into the heart of the Linwood. Beneath a gnarled old tree, they unearthed a buried box and opened it to reveal—
The Hourglass of Oblivion.
With the artifact in hand, the Portalbound joined Mr. Rain and Azamodius at the Portal of Realms. There, a powerful ritual was performed. Time, once distorted, was mended. Linshire was safe.
Other Curious Events:
- A secret message from Calix Darkwater warned that Arguston’s special coins were fake—and that someone was coming for him.
- While everyone else was saving time and uncovering secrets, one bold Portalbound adventurer named Kamden started a petition to convince the Mayor that snakes have rights. Even Azamodius signed it. The Mayor had no choice but to agree – and now Two-Headed Tony is safe from ever being picked up in the forest again.
The petition now hangs proudly in the Wobbly Goblin Inn as a reminder of just how much the Portalbound can change things in this weird, magical town.
